About

Disconnected Press came into being in 2011, the brainchild of writer Lizzie Boyle and artist Conor Boyle.

We believe that words and pictures matter, and they matter more when they are together.

We believe that comics can make you laugh, cry, love, sing, sleep, weep, jump, fall, hunch, slouch, wave, dance, scream, hide and all points in between.

We launched our first two comics in May 2012, and haven’t let up since. Together with some of the finest independent and professional creators in the UK, we have published:

Disconnected, Vols 1, 2 and 3 – our anthologies of stories set in small towns (2012, 2013, 2014)

Cross – a collection of political satire from 2015 which we thought would change the world…

Sentient Zombie Space Pigs – our signature dish if you will, a four part horror comedy featuring pigs, aliens, politicians, FBI agents, farmers, families and mini-golf (trade published in 2018)

Secret Gardens – a choose-your-own-adventure comic set in the grounds of Lowther Castle in the Lake District (2016)

Do Aliens Play Basketball? – a short comic exploring some of the most important questions in space science

Lost Boys and How to Kill Bears – anthologies featuring new talent (2012, 2013)

In recent years, our professional work as writer and artist have taken much of our attention away from Disconnected Press, but we still cherish it and have occasional plans for new things. We’re also happy to advise anyone starting out or making their way through the world of comics, whether as creators, publishers, editors, readers or simply those who are wanting a recommendation of something to explore.
