Forthcoming conventions – and the comic with no name…

We had a great time at True Believers in Cheltenham recently – always a lovely early-in-the-year convention with a strong emphasis on indie creators and a really friendly vibe.

So what’s next in the calendar for Disconnected Press?

We’re delighted to be heading back to Swansea Comic and Gaming Con on Saturday 5 May. We went to the inaugural SCGC last year and had a great time, so we’re delighted to be returning. It’s a proper family show, run by people who are passionate about comics, in a rather striking venue. Highly recommended!

Sticking with the South Wales theme, we’re also returning to Cardiff Independent Comic Expo this year (Saturday 2 June). Cardiff always has a great line up of guests, corralled by the awesome Iz McAuliffe, and a strong 2000AD flavour (and coming just a couple of weeks before the all-women 2000AD, I wonder if we’ll get some sneaky previews…).

Changing motorways, in September, we’ll be heading up the M1 to Leeds for ThoughtBubble 2018. ThoughtBubble is the mommy of UK comics cons and an opportunity to see an incredible array of UK and international talent. It’s a full weekend – and you’ll need every minute if you’re going to get round it all. ThoughtBubble is on 22-23 September at various locations in Leeds City Centre (find the Town Hall and you can’t miss it).

As for the comic with no name…

A great response to our latest – the story of Luis Aguado and how he – and we – respond to his “powers”. Is he a miracle? A superhero? A freak? A fake?  Here’s a lovely review from Kev Couling at Weaver Press Studios: http://www.weaverpressstudios.co.uk/blog/disconnected-press-new-book-review-i-sort-of-wish-i-knew-what-it-was-called/

If that has whetted your appetite, pick up a copy from us at one of the conventions or from our Comicsy shop – www.comicsy.co.uk/disconnectedpress. (Note there have been a couple of technical wrinkles with the shop recently, so if you’re not sure if an order has gone through, just drop us a line – hello@disconnectedpress.co.uk).

Thanks for reading!

We’re delighted to be returning to True Believers, Cheltenham’s annual comic convention this weekend. It’s a great show, properly dedicated to comics, and an opportunity to meet some of the best top and indie comics talent in the UK.

True Believers takes place in the lush surroundings of Cheltenham Racecourse on Saturday 3 February 2018, from 10.30am – 5.30pm.

You can find full venue details at http://oktruebelievers.com/the-venue/

And there’s a table plan at http://oktruebelievers.com/whos-where-2018/ – we’ll be at Table J10 (from memory, the entrance is in the top right corner of the map).

And what will we have with us, you ask?

Why, our (relatively) new comic…

Writer Lizzie Boyle, artist Conor Boyle and letterer Jim Campbell have teamed up once again to bring you the story of Luis Aguado, a Mexican fisherman thrust into the international limelight. Is he a superhero? A magician? A messiah? A freak? Everyone has a theory and everyone wants to know: who or what is Luis Aguado?

Have a sneak peek at the cover and some of Conor’s interior artwork below:

Come and find us at Table J10 on Saturday!!
