We’re delighted to announce three – count ’em – three amazing artists whose work will be featuring in CROSS, our comic anthology of politics, humour, venom and the occasional robot.
First up, the incredible BRICK! Brick was introduced to us by CROSS contributor Mary Talbot. For those who don’t know him, he’s been a political cartoonist since the politically dark but cartoonishly bright days of Thatcher, and his work has featured in newspapers and magazines around the globe. More recently, his first graphic novel Depresso, or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Embrace Being Bonkers was shortlisted for the MIND UK Book of the Year Award, and he edited the incredible World War 1 anthology To End All Wars.
Second: David Ziggy Greene! We’ve been talked to David for a while and finally met him at a Halloween bash last night. Unfortunately his eyes had been gouged out, which made both facial recognition and casual chit chat a bit tricky. Still… His Scene and Heard reports have been a staple of Private Eye since 2011 and his work has featured extensively in Time Out, Charlie Hebdo and a lovely collection of graphic novellas.
And last but not least: Nigel Auchterlounie. He writes Dennis the Menace.
I’ll say that again: he writes Dennis the Menace.
What do you mean, you want to know more? Well, his graphic novel Spleenal explores the interconnection between time travel and sex (obviously), and his writing and artwork have been all over The Dandy and The Beano for years.
We’re VERY EXCITED to feature their storytelling and artwork in CROSS. If you’re excited too, pop on over to our Kickstarter page: pledge £10 to pre-order the book and it’ll be with you before Christmas. Or pledge more and get some nice extra goodies to go with it!
CROSS will officially launch at ThoughtBubble in Leeds on Saturday 15th November. Find us all weekend at Table 84, right in the middle of the Royal Armouries Hall!
